With over twenty-five years as a senior conceptual copywriter, Nic Penrake has honed a sharp instinct for story and tone. His short films blend dark irony with an unflinching view of modern life — distinctive, uncompromising, and visually arresting. Alongside fiction, he’s written and directed branded content, corporate pieces, and music videos, always with a cinematic edge.

In 2023, he was on the writers’ team for a Sky-backed teen drama series. Several of his feature scripts have been optioned, including Operation Jihadi Bride, based on the best-selling true story.

More recently, Nic has turned his focus to AI filmmaking, writing and directing a series of brand films and short fiction films that mix emotional realism with bold conceptual design — collaborating closely with his daughter, Shiona, as editor.
